This is the first version of Niva anyone outside the studio
has been able to use.
It is a creative studio that runs in your browser. Pixels,
vectors and layout in one place, because that is how ideas
actually arrive. Nobody thinks in three applications.
There is no install. No subscription. You open it and it is
there.
WHAT YOU CAN MAKE TODAY
-----------------------
PAINT A brush that behaves like a brush, with hardness
and flow that do what you expect at every setting.
An eraser. Fill. Smudge and blend. A healing brush
and a clone stamp for the things you want gone.
DRAW Pen and curve tools, a knife, rectangles, ellipses,
polygons, stars and lines. Combine shapes. Fill them
with gradients.
TYPE Real typography. Proper kerning, text in a box that
flows, type converted to curves when you want to
push it around.
PHOTOS Levels, curves, hue, saturation and blur. Crop.
Select with a marquee, a lasso, or the magic wand
and work only where you meant to.
BUILD Artboards, so one document can hold a whole set of
pages. Layers and groups. Align, distribute,
transform. Grids and guides that snap. A history you
can walk back through.
KEEP Your work saves as you go and waits for you in
Projects. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, it is
where you left it.
EXPORT PNG, JPEG, SVG or PDF. Or save a .nva, which is the
whole document, every layer and every artboard,
still editable.
SEND Share your work with anyone by link. They do not
need an account, they do not need to sign up, they
just see it. Send them the .nva and they can open it
in Niva and carry on working on it.
SHOW Every account gets a page. Put your work on it, make
it public or keep it private, and send people to it.
WHAT IS NOT HERE YET

Niva does not run on a phone. It is built for a screen you can
work on.
There is no offline app yet. That is coming soon.
And there will be things that are broken. Four thousand of you
are about to use this at once, on machines and files and in
ways we have not seen. That is the point of letting you in
first.
WHY IT IS LIKE THIS
-------------------
Creative software got powerful without getting more creative.
It rewards you for learning it, before it lets you make
anything. The simple alternatives are kind at the start and
then you outgrow them.
We did not think that choice was necessary.
So the test for every single thing in here was the same. Can
someone open Niva and make something they are proud of within
five minutes.
Not everything passes yet. But that is what we were aiming at,
and it is what we will keep aiming at.
